“IN THE STEPS OF GIANTS” features a selection of favourite Jazz standards that Dave would play regularly at various gigs and engagements. Featuring some up tempo modern jazz classics from legends such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker among others, together with some Latin flavoured evergreens from the pen of Henry Mancini and Kenny Dorham and even a classic Hoagy Carmichael ballad. Although Dave has been raising his musical profile more recently within the Soul and Jazz/Funk fraternities with no less than 5 “ACID LOUNGE” albums and numerous single releases, he has clearly put on his “Jazz Hat” for these recordings. Dave says “I started this Jazz guitar album a couple of years ago but got side tracked with other projects. During the Lockdown of 2020 I found some more time on my hands to finally get back to completing it. I wanted to try to get each track recorded as organically as possible in a single take so as to replicate the same sort of performance as if on a live jazz session.” Dave is clearly at home here and his lively yet highly melodic playing is testament to a lifelong love of jazz and a reverence for the legends, let’s say “Giants” in whose footsteps Dave humbly dares to tread.
